The Ghost of You

I can feel you
at the back of my mind
Your breath sending ripples
of remembered joy
and sadness
love indescribable
and pain, yes the pain
I thought I got rid of you
yet you’re there
waiting for my eyes to close
so you can appear
in front of me
with that wicked smile
your charm, my weakness
I remember the scars
on your face
growing red as you sip
your drink
and I thought
I could kiss the pain away
heal you
in these arms
opened wide to embrace
the hurts and burdens
you carry
But I was wrong
blinded I was
with your sweetness
Now I hurt
as the illusion falls
I was broken
damaged by false hopes
the lies repeating
like a broken record
chastising me
for believing too quickly
because there was nothing
not even from the start
And so I shelved my dreams
erased what I could
images and words
that connect me to you
yet a ghost of you remains
living in my darkness
fingers trailing
a path so familiar
to the heart once laid down
exposed to your whims
shuddering as memories
push their way to the surface
only to fade
like you

Fading Memories

In the corners of her mind she wanders
her jumbled thoughts never making any sense.
Try as she might her grasp always falters.
memories slip between her fingers
forgetting faces and feelings.

Memories like who held her hands last,
and what love really meant,
nothing seems to matter to her
as she strolls around her head,
with a vacant stare.

She remembers nothing, not even the butterflies
that follow her around and flutter
when she comes across a face she once knew.
An old lover or a broken hearted man.

Nameless faces never stirred life in her eyes
for they are all the same.
No one deserves a place in her heart for they’ve given
nothing but empty promises and a broken heart.

Because at the end of the day
when everything’s over,
all that is left are forgotten faces
and fading memories not worth remembering.

Silent Days

Ripples form on the surface of the water,
with every tear drop that fell from her eyes,
a taste of bitterness fresh in her tongue,
a loveless feeling to start the day.

Woke up to a blank screen,
feeling empty just went back to sleep,
nothing changed when she opened her eyes,
still a blank screen to keep her company.

Hours may not have meaning for you,
nor days perhaps,
but for her she waits with patience,
until you give her tidings of you.

She may wipe the tears and smile at the world,
but in her heart she fears you’ve forgotten her.
In the midst of all the chaos that you’re in,
you might never see the road leading to her.

She waits, ever so patiently for a sign of you,
a feeling that you’re still thinking of her,
yet silent lines and empty spaces,
are all that’s left of you.

Love No More

No wonder they say love hurts.
Its very bite goes through and through.
It cuts deep within and leaves a hole,
an emptiness that cannot be filled.
The bleeding may stop but that void will remain,
a stark reminder of all that’s been given,
in return for a love that she hopes won’t be forsaken.
Yet pain has prevailed and in her heart of hearts she
she cannot go back to what was before,
because her broken heart can’t love no more.

Bitter Taste

Helpless and hopeless this love is,
it started right but ended so wrongly.
Fate, how twisted can you be?
You’ve given me a taste of honey
yet its sweetness you stole from me.
This bitter taste now clings to me
try as I might I cannot fling it
away from me.

fading memory, fading light,
a shadow of threat and dread collide.
fanning the embers of worry and doubt,
until they blossom into a fiery blaze.
an inferno that dances in her already frayed mind,
burning her every waking thought.
her perfect beginnings melting away,
until fragments of thoughts are all that’s left behind,
doubt filled sentient mind,
colors pale against the fires of trepidation.
feeling lost and alone in her own little world,
waiting for a cup of water to extinguish the flames
of doubt that consumes her,
and waiting still.

Empty Cup

here sits a cup empty of feelings,
its dust-filled bottom looking forlorn,
its rim crusted with old kisses,
its body masking scars made by trembling hands.

here sits an empty cup forgotten,
outlived its purpose, no longer needed,
others have been battered or shattered,
thrown into the garbage, thrown onto the ground.

this empty, forgotten cup
like love forsaken for another,
its kisses no longer matter,
its body no longer worthy,
used, abused then forgotten.

Tell Me It’s Over

Tell Me It’s Over

Falling for you is madness I cannot take
this feeling I have to hold for my own sake.
I’ve been here before and got so hurt
there is no need for you to be so curt.

Just tell me now if it’s over or not
I won’t complain nor beg till I rot.
I am here to ask and nothing more
to keep my heart safe and not be sore.

If this story of ours is fading fast
I’ll chalk it to another lesson that has to last.
For heartaches and broken promises are already old
like the lies I’ve heard and have been told.

You see, I don’t need another empty page in my book.
I’ve always thought you’ll last longer and not be spooked.
But it seems you’re just another memory fading
that I won’t cry over nor feel any longing.
